Markup is profit divided by cost; margin is profit divided by price. A $10 product sold for $25 has a 150% markup and a 60% margin. Keystone pricing (100% markup) suits retail with free foot traffic; stores that pay for every visitor with ads usually need 150 to 200% on landed cost.
Selling price = cost x (1 + markup / 100). Markup = (price - cost) / cost x 100. Margin = (price - cost) / price x 100.
