Gethookd Review (2026): Meta Ad Spy Tool From $29 a Month

Gethookd review in short: it is an ad research tool built on the Meta ad library, with filters the free library does not have, a swipe file, competitor tracking and AI tools for writing scripts and cloning ads. Plans start at $29 a month, below Minea's entry plan. It is a good fit if you sell with Facebook and Instagram ads; it is the wrong tool if TikTok is your main channel.

What Gethookd does
Gethookd takes ads from Meta's public ad library (Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads and Audience Network) and adds the data a dropshipper needs to judge them:
- Performance tiers. Each ad gets a score from testing to winning, based on reach and run time. The top tiers require an ad to run at least 7 and 14 days, so a new ad cannot look like a winner.
- Spend and run time. Estimated ad spend in ranges ($0 to $500 up to $20,000+) and days running.
- Landing page data. Filter by page type (product page, listicle, advertorial, quiz) and by the technology behind it, for example Shopify.
- Format and audience filters. Video, image or carousel, call to action, country, language, age and gender.
The features that use credits

Each plan includes monthly credits for the AI and analysis tools:
- Brand Spy (2 credits): a report on one competitor's ad activity, top creatives and trends over time.
- Transcriptions and AI scripts: turn a winning video into text, then write your own script from it.
- Clone Ads and AI image ads: rebuild a static ad around your own product.
- Creative analyzer: breaks an ad down into hook, angle and format.
Saved ads go into a swipe file and boards, and they stay there after the advertiser stops the ad and it disappears from Meta's library. A Chrome extension saves ads from the Meta Ad Library and TikTok straight into your boards.
Gethookd pricing
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly (per month) | Credits per month | Seats |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Starter | $29 | about $19 | 50 | 1 |
| Pro | $49 | about $32 | 150 | 3 |
| Team | $79 | about $52 | 400 | 5 |
| Agency | $129 | about $83 | 800 | 10 |
A 7-day free trial is available. API and MCP access (for connecting Gethookd to your own tools or an AI assistant) comes with every yearly plan and with monthly Team and Agency. Prices checked October 2026.
For a solo dropshipper, Starter covers the research side. Pro makes sense once you use the scripts and Clone Ads every week.
Where it falls short
- Meta first. The library is Meta ads. TikTok, Pinterest and YouTube research needs another tool.
- Estimates, not data. Spend and reach are estimates, the same limit every ad spy tool has. Treat them as a ranking signal, not as a competitor's real numbers.
- Credits run out. Heavy Brand Spy and AI use on Starter hits the 50-credit limit quickly.
- Everyone sees the same winners. A tool shortens research; it does not give you products nobody else has. You still need your own angle and creative.
Gethookd vs Minea and the free Meta Ad Library
| Gethookd | Minea | Meta Ad Library | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Platforms | Meta (TikTok saving via extension) | Facebook, TikTok, Pinterest, Instagram, Snapchat | Meta only |
| Starting price | $29/month | about $49/month | Free |
| Free option | 7-day trial | Free credits for new users | Always free |
| Performance signals | Performance tier, spend estimate, run time | Engagement metrics | Run dates |
If you run Meta ads and want the lowest price with AI creative tools, Gethookd. If you test on TikTok and Pinterest too, Minea. If you check a few competitors a week, the free Meta Ad Library does the job; our guide on how to find winning products shows how.
Who should use Gethookd
Use it if you spend on Facebook ads for dropshipping, test several products a month and lose hours scrolling the Meta library for creative ideas. Skip it if you have not launched a store yet or have no ad budget; run the numbers in the ROAS calculator first.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does Gethookd cost?
Four plans on monthly billing: Starter $29 (50 credits, 1 seat), Pro $49 (150 credits, 3 seats), Team $79 (400 credits, 5 seats) and Agency $129 (800 credits, 10 seats). Yearly billing cuts the price by about a third, for example Starter works out to about $19 a month. A 7-day free trial is available.
Does Gethookd include TikTok ads?
The searchable library is built on Meta ads: Facebook, Instagram, Messenger, Threads and Audience Network. The Chrome extension can save TikTok ads into your swipe file, but if TikTok is your main channel, a multi-platform tool like Minea or TikTok's free Creative Center fits better.
What are Gethookd credits used for?
Credits pay for the AI and analysis features: Brand Spy (2 credits per brand), transcriptions, AI scripts, AI image ads, Clone Ads and the creative analyzer. Starter's 50 credits cover about 25 Brand Spy reports a month.
Is Gethookd better than the free Meta Ad Library?
It shows the same ads with more to work with: performance and spend estimates, run time, landing page type, filters by format and country, and a swipe file that keeps ads after the advertiser turns them off. If you only check a few competitors a week, the free library is enough.
